The Story Behind This Stackable Ring
At Vai Ra, we love when clients return with fresh ideas — especially when they challenge us to push the boundaries of traditional jewelry design.
This project began with a ring we crafted in 2023: a stunning lab-grown diamond engagement ring. Recently, the client came back with a unique request — a stackable ring unlike anything we’d done before.
The Client’s Vision
Instead of a typical pavé band, she envisioned a two-stone stackable ring that would create the illusion of a three-stone engagement ring when paired with her original piece.
She shared a clip she found online and asked: “Can you make this work with my ring?”

We were intrigued. The concept was clever, but we wanted to ensure it was functionally sound, aesthetically balanced, and true to Vai Ra’s craftsmanship standards.
How We Made It Work
Luckily, we had the original CAD file of her engagement ring.

This allowed us to:
- Test the new design using wax prototypes
- Align the two stones perfectly with the center stone
- Avoid the common issue of misaligned side stones
- Refine the placement so the stones sit seamlessly, creating a unified look that feels intentional and elegant
Dry Run Without the Main Ring
Since the client had her original ring, we couldn’t test the final piece with it directly. Instead, we used a similar ring (size 19.5) to do a dry run and check the visual harmony.
The result? A stunning three-stone illusion that looks cohesive, elevated, and entirely unique.
