BIS Hallmarked Gold — Verify Your Hallmark

Every gold jewellery piece at Vai Ra is crafted in BIS Hallmarked gold. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark is India's official guarantee of gold purity — it confirms that the gold in your jewellery has been independently tested and meets the declared karat standard. All Vai Ra pieces carry the "VR" maker's mark alongside the BIS hallmark.

Gold colour options by karat

10K gold — Yellow, white, and rose gold. The most durable option due to higher alloy content. Ideal for everyday jewellery and budget-conscious buyers. BIS Hallmarked.

14K gold — Yellow, white, and rose gold. The most popular choice for moissanite and lab diamond jewellery — harder than 18K, which keeps stones held more securely in prong settings. BIS Hallmarked.

18K gold — Yellow, white, and rose gold. Richer in colour than 14K with a higher gold content. The lead choice at Vai Ra for fine jewellery. BIS Hallmarked.

22K gold — Yellow gold only. The highest purity available at Vai Ra. Best suited for traditional, non-studded styles — the softness of 22K gold means it is less suitable for prong-set gemstone jewellery as stones can work loose over time. BIS Hallmarked.

Verify your BIS hallmark

Since July 2021, every BIS hallmarked piece carries a six-character HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) number engraved on the jewellery itself alongside the BIS logo. You can verify this number using the official BIS Care app, available free on Android and iOS:

Open the app, select "Verify Hallmark," and enter your six-character HUID to confirm your piece's registered purity, the hallmarking centre that tested it, and the jeweller it was registered to.

Stone certification

The BIS hallmark covers gold purity only — it does not cover gemstone quality. Every Vai Ra stone is independently certified separately: lab grown diamond solitaires are IGI certified and moissanite stones are SGL certified, both graded DEF colour and VVS clarity. For stone verification, see the authenticity certificate page.
